Uber launches “Uber Drift” in Tokyo, giving tourists passenger-seat access to Japan’s iconic car culture

Japan is known for many things – sushi, powder snow, geishas, and of course, drifting. Now you can tap into this unique, high-octane culture on your next adventure to the Land of the Rising Sun.

Uber has launched Uber Drift, a limited-edition motorsport experience in Japan that lets tourists ride shotgun with professional drift drivers at a real racing circuit. The product marks the Asia-Pacific debut of Uber’s “Go Anywhere” series — a global lineup of premium travel experiences bookable directly through the Uber app.

Drifting — the high-speed art of sliding a car sideways through corners — was born in Japan in the 1970s and has since grown into a worldwide phenomenon. Despite its deep roots in Japanese automotive culture, authentic access for international visitors has historically been difficult. Uber Drift aims to change that.

The half-day experience begins with a luxury Uber Black pickup from a Tokyo hotel, followed by a round-trip transfer to Mobara Twin Circuit. Upon arrival, guests spend roughly 90 minutes on track riding passenger-side during tandem drifting sessions with Formula Drift-licensed professional drivers behind the wheel of two iconic Japanese sports cars: a Nissan Silvia S15 and a Nissan 180SX.

The experience is offered as a private group reservation for one to four participants, priced at 30,000 JPY per group. Each booking includes a set number of laps that can be divided among the group or taken in full by a solo guest.

The experience is available 3 June to 1 July, 2026 but note that capacity is tightly limited to four groups per day.

Uber Drift follows international “Go Anywhere” launches including Uber Safari in Nairobi, Uber Balloon in Cappadocia, and Uber Bubbles in Austria — each designed to make extraordinary local experiences seamlessly bookable for travelers worldwide.
